#20 - Friend Like Me
Aladdin came out in 1992, I remember taking Ashely to the movies to see it. We never missed a new Disney movie on the weekend it premiered. Robin Williams was the perfect choice to voice "The Genie of the Lamp". He was hilarious, and if I remember correctly he improvised a lot of the dialog for the Genie and Disney just used it in the final movie. I love the storyline with Jasmine and Aladdin, but the Genie and his comic relief put the movie over the top for me and make it fantastic. I really like the fun, silly attitude of this song and think it shows a lot of the Genie's personality. I hope you enjoy it!!

Reasons I Love Disney A-Z..."J"
"J"
Jungle Book - Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, King Louie; I love the characters from this movie!! This music is great, the story is great! Ash & I watched it hundreds of times when she was little.
Jasmine - One of the Disney Princesses, she has to be on list. And I love the movie Aladdin. She is beautiful and exotic, and she has a pet tiger, how cool is that???
Jafar - As long as we are talking about Aladdin, we can't forget it's villain now can we?
Jack Jack (The Incredibles) - Baby Jack Jack, the youngest of the Incredibles.
James Norrington (Pirates of the Caribbean) - His life changed considerably from the first movie to the third. Aren't we glad Elizabeth didn't marry him!!
Joshamee Gibbs (Pirates of the Caribbean) - Mr. Gibbs, I bet you didn't know his first name did ya!!
Jiminy Cricket - Pinocchio had to have a conscious and who better than Jiminy Cricket to do the job?
John (Peter Pan) - One of the Darling children who accompanied Peter to Neverland. I didn't see this movie until I was almost 40, and I loved it immediately, and the ride is definitely a favorite at Disney World.
Jetsam (The Little Mermaid) - Along with Flotsam, one of those evil electric eels of Ursula's!
Jessie (Toy Story) - What a shame this little red headed fireball of a cowgirl had to spend all those years not being played with. She is so much fun in Toy Story 2, and she was really meant to have a little girl play with her, thank goodness Buzz and Woody rescued her from that Toy Barn guy!!
Jungle Cruise - It's a hokey ride, but it is a Disney classic. I am sure we will be on it come July.
Japan Pavilion - I think Japanese architecture is so beautiful, I am really looking forward to seeing the Japan Pavilion at the World Showcase in EPCOT. I hear the pagoda, rock garden and koi ponds are stunning.

Iago (Aladdin) - This parrot was loud and kind of obnoxious but really funny.
It's A Small World - I don't believe this could possibly be anyone's favorite ride, but it is a Disney World icon. It has to be on the list.
IllumiNations - During our last trip, Mike & I both got sick on the day of our arrival. That was the night we had our reserved spot to view the fireworks at EPCOT. Hopefully some eight and a half years later I will finally get to see IllumiNations. Ash & Dakota got to see them and from their descriptions it will be worth the wait.
Italy Pavilion - As I have said before I am really looking forward to visiting the World Showcase.
Imagineers - I love that this is what Disney calls the engineers that create all the fun stuff we get to do while we are there. It's just a cool name.
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular - OK ,I have to admit I have a crush on Indy. One of my FAVORITE movies ever Raiders of the Lost Ark. Just because it's based on this character it has to be on this list, period.
It's Tough to be a Bug! - Based on A Bug's Life, we saw this last time we were at Disney. I love the extras with the wind in your face and the 3-D effects and you can feel the bug get you in the back of your seat. And it's inside the Tree of Life, you can't go wrong with that.

Reasons I Love Disney A-Z..."G"

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa - "Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a Victorian-style Disney Deluxe Resort distinguished as the flagship hotel of Walt Disney World Resort and offering world-class dining, entertainment and luxurious accommodations in its 6 striking red-gabled buildings. This magnificent hotel sits along the white-sand shores of Seven Seas Lagoon." This is a quote from the Disney website so I suppose I couldn't have said it better myself.
Grand Floridian Cafe - I have to be totally honest and tell you the main reason I want to eat here is to have the dessert sampler which includes Tiramisu, Chocolate-Hazelnut Mousse Cake, Key Lime Tart & Lemon Cheesecake. Does that not sound absolutely delicious!!
Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop - Hello, the name of the shop says it all. Thank you.
Goofy - "Gawrsh" you gotta love this member of the "Fab Five." Dakota was only 5 when we went to Disney World last time but his most vivid memory is of Goofy sneaking up behind me to "bite" my head half off at breakfast one morning. He stills laughs about that today.
Grimsby (The Little Mermaid)- Bet you forgot about Grimsby, Eric's manservant from The Little Mermaid didn't you? He is on the deck of the ship turning green about to give Eric a statue of himself as a birthday present when the storm comes along that eventually brings Ariel and Eric together.
Genie (Aladdin) - Arguably the true star of the movie Aladdin, I don't think Disney could have chosen a better actor than Robin Williams to voice this character. He was so funny, you watched to see what he was going to do next as much as you did to see what was going to happen with Aladdin and Jasmine.
Grumpy - I referenced Grumpy in an earlier post about the dwarfs from Snow White, but can't leave him out here.
Geppetto (Pinocchio) - There's nothing Geppetto wants more than a real little boy, but he sure never expects the Blue Fairy grant his wish and turn Pinocchio into a real boy.
Gopher (Winnie the Pooh) - It's so much fun to listen to Gopher whistle when he talks wearing his construction hat complete with a light in front. You've got to love those creatures in the Hundred Acre Wood.

Reasons I Love Disney A-Z..."A"

Aurora - My favorite Princess. I still remember going to see Sleeping Beauty at the movie theater downtown when I was a little girl. I thought she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen...she still is. We didn't see Aurora last time we were at Disney World maybe this time.
Ariel (The Little Mermaid) - I remember taking Ashley to see this movie when she was just a little girl. Don't you just love the music from this movie! I cannot wait to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Disney World. And of course you have Ariel's sisters: Adella, Alana, Andrina, Aquata, Arista & Attina.
ADR's - Advance dining reservations, aren't they wonderful. The perfect way to know you get to eat exactly where you want and you get the chance to dine with Mickey, Minnie, other Disney Characters or Disney Royalty.
Animal Kingdom - Disney's theme park dedicated to animals, nature and conservation. It's pretty amazing to see all of the species of animals living in an area which appears so close to their native habitat. I think Walt would be proud.
All-Star Resorts - While my family has never stayed at an All-Star Resort, I think it's great that Disney has tried to make it affordable for everyone to visit The Happiest Place On Earth! And Disney had definitely made sure it appeals to everyone's taste with the All-Star Resorts whether you're a
Aladdin - This movie came out when Ashley was about 5 or so. You've got to love the Genie, enough said. And let's not forget Abu.
Aladar - Dakota was a dinosaur freak as a kid. I don't remember what Disney/Pixar movie we had gone to see when the preview for Dinosaur came on. Dakota was obsessed with this movie for a long time. I personally kept Disney in the black buying Aladar action figures one year.
Atlantis - Another movie I have watched with Dakota dozens of times. It's really a great movie, I love how they can make an animated move appeal to adults as well as kids.
Adventureland - Located in the Magic Kingdom, Adventureland is where you will find Pirates of the Caribbean, Magic Carpets of Aladdin and the Enchanted Tiki Room. It's a paradise where you are sure to hear drums and parrots but watch out Captain Jack may try to recruit you for his crew of pirates!
Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride - This is not what you are thinking!! This is the attraction located on floor 2 of Disney Quest. You wear goggles for a virtual magic carpet ride through Agrabah and search for jewels in the Cave of Wonder, and don't forget to fee the Genie while you are there.
Animation Academy - Also offered at Disney Quest, if you are into computer animation, this is a hands on lesson. It lasts about 20 minutes.
Autographs - Aren't these just part of the fun of going to Disney. I love just seeing how many I can collect while I am there. This year I am going to take an autograph book for Lexi since she can't go with us and send it to her in Korea. I know she won't be old enough to realize what it is but hopefully she will appreciate it later.
